Tarte Tatin

Today we made Tarte Tatin. Here we were peeling the apples and then cutting it.  It may look easy but some of us found it difficult. After that hard task I had to squeeze the lemon juice.

Battle ship

In this game I had to make inferences. I thought this game was really good for me because it was really challenging. At first I didn't know how to play but later on I learnt how to play. I really would like to learn and play these kinds of game.

Units of measurement

In this game I had to find which two units should jack use to measure capacity. This game was really easy because I already knew how to convert volume. I think Mrs Ramkalowan should give my group different types of games that we don't know. For example games that involves box and whiskers.

Remember remember the fifth of November

Remember remember the fifth of November

In 1605 and my friends and I had a plan. We wanted to blow up Britain’s House of Parliament and  kill the King, maybe even the Prince of Wales, and the Members of Parliament who were making life difficult for us Catholics. My name is Guy Fawkes and I am the leader as my mates would call me.

“ Where do I take these 36 barrels of gunpowder?” yelled Thomas.
“Store them in a cellar just under the House of Lords”, I replied. But as we worked on the plot, it became clear that innocent people would be hurt or killed in the attack but I still wanted to continue with my plan. Some of the plotters started having second thoughts. Henry even sent an anonymous letter warning his friend, Lord Monteagle, to stay away from the Parliament on November 5th. I was furious. I wanted to kick him out but if I did then he would unveil  my plan. I knew that I couldn't afford that so I decided to let it slip by.

On the 5th of November when we were just about to start my mission I saw a noise coming down from the alleyway. My heart started to beat faster than ever before. I knew I was going to breathe my last soon but then I had an idea that would change my situation.
“Hey Thomas I would give your family one million dimes if you take my place”, I suggested.
“I know you are going to cheat on me boss.” Thomas argued. I persuaded  him at last and I went running out off the alley. I was free but I felt so sad because I knew that my friends had no idea what was going to happen to them.

Two weeks later I heard that the judge sentenced Guy Fawkes to the most horrendous form of execution available. He was sentenced to be hanged and quartered. My heart shattered into a million pieces. I could never forgive myself. People will never know that there were actually thirteen people who were part of the plan.

How has this figure been transformed?

In this game I had to find out is the letters are reflected, rotated or translated. This game was very easy for me because I know reflection, rotation and translation very well. Next I would like to learn the next stage of maths and learn something that I don’t know.

Badminton game

Badminton is a game
We play it to have some fun
Don’t play in the sun
So lets play it all the time

Badminton game

I hit the shuttle
This is going to be a battle
I am going to win
and you're going to the bin

You lost
I win
look at my grin

Little birdie back and forth,
not the earth but on the court,
between the south and north.
Short trip across the court,
racket ports across the net,
simply for the birdie sport.

Marea

Today we went to the Marae to learn about rheumatic fever. In this picture we were sitting and talking to the ministry of health.

math apocalpse

I thought this game was very challenging and also fun game. The hardest part was when I got very hard equations and I had to work it out before  the people attack you. Alisi and I played the game together and we came 16 on the worldwide score board. I really like this game and I would really like to play this game again or a game similar to this game.

I was sure I heard the sound of a....

was a warm late January morning and I was eating my cereal and looking at the calendar. I could see  that there was only one week before the first day of school. I stared at the vivid red letters on the calendar.

I was going to start college and I was so nervous because when i was in year 8 last year I use to get teased a lot. Jelly belly they would call me and some of the girls would say sing “ oh wait I was sure I heard the sound of a earth oh no I was wrong it is jelly belly”. I would flood my shed of tears in the girls bathroom because I had no friends. I told my teacher about it but they said they would have a talk about it but they never seem to get the chance. Now I was going to start college and I would be living in hell again.

On the first day off college we all had to go around and ask each other some questions about them. I had to interview the most popular girl in the class so far. She swished her long, thick blond hair as she turned to look at me. She said “ hi” to me in her cute soft voice. I was blown away. She was like a barbie doll that I had never had.

She asked me what is my favourite colour and I whispered “ blue”.
“ Omg! me too” She screamed with delight. Then I asked her what is her favourite subject again we both liked the same thing, Maths. We chatted until Mrs Bean stopped us.

After the bell rang she asked me if I would join her and her friends for lunch. I was overwhelmed this was the first time anyone has ever asked me to join for lunch. I was smiling all  the way to the cafeteria. Her friend were all waiting. There were about 6 of us. I was the enjoying the decisions because I could relate to it.

Everyday we began to hang out more and soon she we became best friends. I never even thought  that I would make friends and I never I imagined it would be the populist girl in year 9. All the people who use to tease me in year 8 said that they regret it all. No one ever teased me again.

Scatter graph

Our maintenance was all about learning about a scatter graph. This just made me revise my memory. Now  I know exactly what is a scatter graph. Next I would like to revise my other graph knowledge.

Me or him

Me or him?

“Runnnn! There is a fire!” screamed the crowds of millions. I am a newly trained firefighter and I  reported to duty because there was a massive fire in the sky tower. This was my first time and I was so excited. I felt like all my dreams had came true, I finally got my dream job.

When I got there I saw the jumping flames going wild. My work mate told me to  go inside and get the people out. I ran faster than the speed of light to rescue the crying people who were trapped inside. There was a lady who was coughing because of the smoke and there was a man lying on the floor, both of them couldn't move.

I piggy backed the lady  and promised the man that I was coming to get him soon. My back was aching because off the weight off the lady. When I got her out there was an ambulance  waiting. She was rushed to the hospital. I ran back inside to help the man who was waiting for me but my friend said that the fire was too dangerous to go into. I didn’t listen to anyone because I didn't want to break  my promise so I ran back inside. The man had looked dead but when I checked his pulse it was still going. I carried him on my back. I felt like I was carrying a car. My legs begun to go weak but I kept on going.
The fire was getting worse. All the doors were blocked. I felt dead already. Then I saw a little gap enough for one person. I knew it was him or me. I squeezed him in the gap and saw the people rushing to get him in the ambulance. I was glad. Then I tried to squeeze myself inside and my friend ran to help me but.... BOOM!

WALT: write a narrative

Netball game
“GIRLS!!” Mrs Ramkolowan screeched.
“ I say, burn its hot in here.. It must be G.I coming first this year” chanted the girls sitting on the blue wooden benches. Everybody was so nervous as they watched the G.I girls play their final game of netball with Bethlehem college.

In the first set G.I was losing by 6 points and they were  disappointed. They all dragged their feet to the sideline as if they were carrying a ton of stone in every.. Mrs Ramkolowan tried to cheer them up by using  motivating words. Finally, it was the last set. Alisi the goal shooter was petrified.
The girls were exuberant to turn the game around.
“Five minutes left” yelled the time keeper. The score was 16- 9 to G.I.  G.I was overwhelmed by the results but Mrs Ramkalowan was still  belched commands from the sideline.. Every time they scored their step got lighter and lighter. Soon they all looked like they were flying in the air.

Hooooot! The hooter went and G.I had won the netball competition for 2013 18-12.I. Everyone was gleaming with delight and filled with pride. They shook hands with the Bethlehem girls and then ran to tell others about their success. Mrs Ramkolowan ran as if she was a true athlete to the field to Mr Ramkolowan to tell the news.  Mr Ramkolowan was jovial when he was heard the news and celebrated with the girls.

Annoying gorilla

Yesterday I went to the zoo
and saw a gorilla named voodoo.
He was hairy and annoying
and soon he turned faulty
because he was aging 20 years a day.
His fur was turning grey
but he still wanted to play.
He was bony and he kept on calling Tony.
The old gorilla kept on imitating me
with his squeaky voice
trying to take my verse
So I had enough of him and I left him alone
and went to the monkey zone
and I saw John the Monkey who was ageing 40 years a day...

Mean, mode and median

In this game I had to find the median mean mode, median and range. To find the range you have to  subtract the least number from the greatest number. The mode is the number that appears most often. The median is the number that is in the middle. I think this game was really easy because the rules. Next I would like to learn another way of finding the mode, mean, median.

skin story

Sara’s experience

“Sara put on sunscreen before you go to the beach” yelled Sara’s mum,
“No mum don't worry I will be ok” shouted Sara
It was summer and Sara and her family was having fun at the beach. Sara played in the beach and had lots of fun but her mum kept on telling her to put on sunscreen but she didn't listen because she thought that putting sunscreen on wouldn't help her.

The afternoon when Sara came home she was feeling very well, skin was burning and it was very red. Sara went and told her mum about it and her mum looked at her and saw a mole on her cheek. Sara’s mum took her to the doctors and they examined her. The  doctors told sara and her mum that she had skin cancer. Sara and her mum was very shocked and upset, they looked like they were about to cry. Then Sarah’s mum cried and said to Sara “ I told you to put on sunscreen before you go out in the sun, but you did not listen and now this is your punishment”. Sara started crying and then she asked the doctor “ am I going to die?”.
“ No your not going to die don't worry we will make sure your ok, so now you have to go to starship for a while ok” the doctor said calmly trying to calm them down.
When Sara and her mum went to the hospital the pediatrician told her that she is going to be ok because she came in the right time.

Five months later the cancer was gone but the doctors said that it could come back again.
Sara always puted sunscreen every time she went out and even sometimes when she was at home. She even told her friends and family about her experience.

Thoughts

WALT: share our thoughts on “ Milk in schools”

Thoughts

I think that the government should not provide milk for low docile schools and these are the reasons why. First of all it is the parents are responsibility to provide milk for their children. Milk is very cheap so anyone can buy it if they wanted.  Even though milk has a lot  of benefits and all children should drink it we should not be given milk instead the government should inform the parent of the benefit of milk and parents would know why milk is good for you and they would buy it.

probability

Probability

In this game I had to find out what are the chances and possibilities of finding different colours of fireflies. This game was really easy for me because all you had to do is count the number of a certain colour firefly and then count the whole group and if the certain colour firefly was more than the others then half then it is certain.

Just like new

Walt : write a rap to share the facts on  a Ta’ovala.

Just like new

In the kingdom of Tonga
As a sign of respect
People wear Ta’ ovala
to a special place
to avoid family disgrace

To a funeral people wear black
If you don't you're really slack
On top of that you wear a decorated Ta’ ovala to make it flash

Ta’ ovala is passed from generation to generation
sometimes to another nation

Kiekie are the modern style
you wear it to birthdays
and even down the aisle

Homemade ones are the best
because they beat the rest
They are made from flax
and thats a fact
with lots of love
from deep down in the heart .

Valentines

WALT: discuss the problem and solution in sequence

Valentines

In this story there are two problems and the first one was Robbie brought red roses for a girl in his class and he wanted give in to her on the bus but she didn't come because  she missed the bus. Her sister Trisha asked him if that was for his girlfriend but Robbie’s cheeks turned red like a pomegranate.

Robbie went to class and decide to give it to Karen when they had group work but they weren't in the same group. Robbie saw Karen with Harvey. They were having lots of fun together. Robbie felt depressed. Robbie didn't wanted to give Karen the rose anymore so he gave it to his friend Dan and Dan gave it to his girlfriend.

Sphinx

What is a Sphinx

A Sphinx is an ancient Egyptian stone figure that has a lion's body and a humans or animals head. It is found in in giza in egypt. The Great Sphinx was built in approximately 2500 BC by the pharaoh Khafra. The Great Sphinx is a large human-headed lion that was carved from a mound of natural rock. It is located in Giza where it guards the front of Khafra'.
Some people believe that there are hidden passageways or rooms underneath the Great Sphinx, but nothing has been found yet.
The beginning of one story about the Great Sphinx is written  between the sphinx's paws.
The story reads that one day, a young prince fell asleep next to the Great Sphinx. He had been hunting all day, and was very tired. He dreamt that the Great Sphinx promised that he would become the ruler of Upper and Lower Egypt if he cleared away the sand covering its body.
The rest of the story is gone, so you will have to use your imagination to work out the ending.

Collage

Today we chose a outline of the thing we liked and then insert all my pictures and made a collage.
I chose to make a collage of a I pod generation 5 but it turned out like a box.

Random or not?

In this game I had to find the longest sequence pattern. At the beginning I found this game really hard but it was really easy when I played the game and then I reread it again. The challenging thing was when I had to reread the instructions over and over again.  Next I would like to learn how to make a graph out of the sequence.

Uncle Eru

Uncle Eru is an interesting character in the story called “ The argument.  He displays several qualities which make him an interesting character.  Uncle Eru is a middle aged person. This is evident because he is allowed to drink alcohol and smoke dope. Uncle Eru is also a ignorant person.  We witness this when he didn't listen to his dad aka Karo.  Lastly, Uncle Eru is a strong person mentally.  The author shows this when he loses his hand but he still moves on with his life even though his hope of becoming and all black is ruined.  This essay will show that Uncle Eru possesses the three qualities just mentioned.  This essay will also show how the examples just mentioned show unique qualities.

Types of collars children want for sports camp t-shirts

In my maths group we had to carry a statistical survey of children in Glen Innes School. I decided to collect data of what types of collars children want for our sports camp t-shirts. After I had 50 childrens opinion I fed the information into the internet and turned it to a pie graph, bar graph and then a line graph.  From my graphs I have found out that the most popular collar was polo and the most unpopular collar was the wing.
54% of children liked the polo which is more than half and only 8% of children liked the wing.

Papa’s Pizzeria

WALT:make and serve pizzas as fast as we can

Papa’s Pizzeria
I  really liked this game because you had to make pizzas in a certain time. I think that this game was really challenging game for me because I had to work really fast. The part where it was the most time consuming was when i had to take orders and I had to wait for the people to tell me what they wanted and I think that part took half of the game time. I would really like to play another game like this but maybe next time I could make another type of food.

Kate Sheppard

Kate Sheppard

I am inspired by Kate Sheppard because she stood up for women and made a big difference to our way of living today. Katherine Wilson Sheppard was the most prominent member of New Zealand's women's suffrage (the movement to allow women to vote in New Zealand). She also appears on the NZ ten dollar note because of what she did.

New Zealand was the first country in 1983 to introduce universal suffrage because of Kates commitment and sacrifice. Kate's work had an impact on women's suffrage in other countries too.I am inspired by her perseverance and her hard work.

She really inspires me because she stood up for women's rights and she made a huge difference not just in New Zealand but in other countries too. Over the next several years, Kate support women's rights issues from the right to divorce, to the guardianship of children and the abolishment of corsets.

Speaking for a new generation, she argued, ‘We are tired of having a “sphere” doled out to us, and of being told that anything outside that sphere is “unwomanly”.’
Kate travelled the country, writing to newspapers, holding public meetings and lobbying members of Parliament. Opposition was fierce.

As Wellington resident Henry Wright wrote, women were ‘recommended to go home, look after their children, cook their husbands’ dinners, empty the slopes, and generally attend to the domestic affairs for which Nature designed them they should give up”,  but Kate never gave up and her husband supported her in every movement she took which made her even stronger. Kate accepted every challenge people gave her and stayed focus.

maths millionaire

This game was a little bit hard because I had to work out fraction problems in a short amount of time. to play this game well you have to have good multiplication skills. I would like more fraction games like this so I could get better and faster at multiplying fraction.

Basketball is my favourite sport I dribble up and down the courtJump stop, Pivot and swish until I hear the hootI hope that not a foul because I just want to play and run wild.
