Netball poem

WALT: write a poem

Netball

Never give up
Enjoy your game
There is no shame
Because it’s your fame
After you shoot
Let out a hoot
Lower pass and high pass and in the how

Nothing is more
Entertaining than playing netball
Together with your friends.
Boys and girls
Always remember
Low pass and high pass then
Let it slide in the hoop then score!!!

Netball is
Entertaining
Terrific
Bewildering
Astonishing

Cubic box- rich task

Cubic Box

One of our rich  tasks was to find out how many people can fit in a cubic metre. Mrs Ramkolowan divided us into two groups, boys and girls. The girls decided to make our cube out of newspaper. We rolled the newspaper together and sculpted it like a box. After we finished making the cube we all went inside it to see  how many people could fit and we found out that four people could fit but I think it all depends on the size of people. If we had smaller sized people we would have more people and it we sat closer to each other we would have more people.. Next, I would like to learn how many small sized people could fit.

Mum stepped

WALT: to use better words

                                         Winning Lotto

Mum stepped in the living room where I was sitting. She screamed her heart out  “ I won lotto!”. I was astonished.  I never knew we would ever win Lotto not even in a million years.

Dad just came from the bathroom and mum ran up to him faster than a cheetah  and said “ we can for fulfill our dreams”.
“What happened? I think you have a high temperature.Go and have a rest,” replied dad. I went up to dad and screamed with delight, “ we have won lotto dad.” He jumped so high that he nearly bumped his head on the ceiling.
“ Can I see the ticket,” gasped dad. Mum took out the ticket and gave it to dad.
“ Lets go and collect the money,” said dad. Mum and dad rushed to collect the money and I was left alone I felt that they were so happy that they forgot all about me.

Half an hour later mum and dad came in with a bag in their hands. I ran up to them and said “what is in the bag?,”.
“ It is the money,” they replied both at the same time. When I opened the bag it was full of clothes. I looked at mum and dad they were so shocked that they both froze like an ice statue.
“ where is the money,” I said quietly.
“ I don’t know it was in the bag when we got it,” replied mum.
“ The bag got exchanged,” said dad. “ Get in the car quickly and lets go to the bank,”

When we got to the bank we ran to the teller and dad explained what has happened. The teller said that they will look in the security camera and see what had happened. We waited for 10 minutes but it felt like forever. When the teller came in she said “when I gave you the bag you putted it down on the ground to sign the form and a lady who had the same bag as yours took the bag accidentally, let me ring the lady and tell her that she took the wrong bag,”. As the teller was going to ring the lady the exacted lady came in to another teller and said that she accidentally took the wrong bag. Mum speed walked to the  lay and said she had her bag. So we happily exchanged our bags then dad asked “ didn't you want to keep the bag knowing it had a million dollars,”.
“ No because my bag was full of my treasures and I wouldn't  give it for even a million dollars,” she replied.

One week later my whole life changed. I got all my wants and needs but I still remember what the lady said. We decided to donate half of the money towards the heart foundation because my grandparents died of a heart disease.

design a party

In this game the aim was to find the perimeter and area and fit them all in a square without overlapping. I thought this game was really hard because it was hard to not overlap it. I thought this game was really good because it was challenging and it really made me think. I would like to learn how to find the length of shapes when just givin the perimeter and the width.

basic facts test

WALT:reflect on my basic facts assessment

On my basic facts test I got 92 % out of 100% in stage 7. I progressed by 10% from my previous test. In this test I found converting decimals to fractions and then to percentages really easy. I didn't really find anything challenging but the reason I didn't get a full mark was because I was in a rush. My next aim is to get a full mark and to be patient.

basic facts/ area game

In this game I was learning the area and perimeter. I found this game a little challenging because I sometimes forgot how to find the area of a square. The thing I found easy in this game was finding the perimeter of a square because all you have to do is add the numbers together. I need to learn more about finding areas of different shapes.

On Friday the 7 of June Glen Innes School had a Jump rope show to support the heart foundation. The children skipped in their school hall which was decorated in hearts and posters to support the heart foundation.

Children from room 1 to 12 skipped with enthusiasm. They  had super energy as there fridays and families cheered for them. Each class took three to four minutes to perform. Class after class dazzled as they showed their amazing talents.  Room 11 had a very unique idea, they skipped using a scooter which left the audience astonished.

The music each class used was suitable and they children and parents enjoyed it alot. In some sons the audience sing along. You could see the smile and laughter of everyone which was the best part of all.

On 22nd of June Glen Innes School will perform at the G.I centre and collect coins to help the heart foundation. So come along and enjoy the show and help the heart foundation.

mummification

WALT: write an information report

                                          Mummified

Ancient Egyptians mummified dead people. First organs such as the brain were removed except for the heart. Then they salted the body and left it to dry. Clothes were stuffed to keep  the body shape. After the body was oiled and bandaged tightly this helped it from rotting. In this procedure a priest was always there to keep an eye because Egyptians believed that the priest would send the spirit of the body to the next world. Mummies were placed in wooden boxes. Some of the boxes were highly decorated and important people such as pharaohs were placed in stone boxes.

ratio

In this game I had to find an equivalent fractions. The most challenging part for this game was to find equivalent fractions of thirds because I didn't really know that much about thirds. I really like this game because I got to verse with other children around the globe.  The thing I need to learn is get faster at answer fraction problems.

Should soft drugs be decriminalised.

WALT: write opinion.

Should soft drugs be decriminalised.

I strongly believe that soft drugs should not be decriminalised because if New zealand decriminalised drugs more people will take drugs and get high and do stupid things. If drugs are decriminalised then people can go and buy harmful drugs at the shops easily. The next generation would all be taking drugs and then the next and next until drugs becomes a social thing. How will New Zealand be in the future? Drugs are harmful and it affects your live negatively. People who take  drugs mainly take it because they lack self of steam and instead of taking drugs because of this they can see a therapist or a doctor or even talk to someone.  People who think that drugs should be decriminalised think that New Zealand would get more tax and get richer but I think the are just putting money first instead of people’s safety. These are only some of the problems I am sure that there are lots of other reasons too.

I.C.T with Mrs Anderson

I.C.T with Mrs AndersonToday the year 8’s had I.C.T for technology. Our teachers name is Mrs Anderson. We were learning about our passions and Mrs Anderson gave us an example of her passion. The thing I found challenging was keeping up with her writing on the board and then typing it in my computer because she was writing very fast. I will be successful if I can put my passions in a drawing  on Google docs. Next I would like to learn how to put my put my information on goggle docs and learn new  short cuts to use on the computer.

contributions by egypt

One of the two lasting contributions of the Egyptians to astronomy is the 24-hour division of the day. The Egyptians divided a day into 12 equal parts and then divide it into 24 hours a day because they found out that another 12 hours for the night. Egyptian astronomers were mathematically forced into a 12-part equal division of the night and ultimately the 24-hour day.

After Egyptians discovered a day they discovered 360 days a year and then added 5 days of the feast days which made of 365 days. Approximately a year  was 365 1/4 days even this fixed calendar fell behind the sun about 1 day every 4 years.
