                                          Mummified

Ancient Egyptians mummified dead people. First organs such as the brain were removed except for the heart. Then they salted the body and left it to dry. Clothes were stuffed to keep  the body shape. After the body was oiled and bandaged tightly this helped it from rotting. In this procedure a priest was always there to keep an eye because Egyptians believed that the priest would send the spirit of the body to the next world. Mummies were placed in wooden boxes. Some of the boxes were highly decorated and important people such as pharaohs were placed in stone boxes.
